| Earthquake | A sudden and violent shaking of the ground, sometimes causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action. |
| Fault | An unattractive or unsatisfactory feature, especially in a piece of work or in a person's character. |
| Seismic Wave | Vibrations of elastic energy that travel through the Earth's interior or along its surface, typically generated by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, magma movement, landslides, or man-made explosions |
| Focus | The center of interest or activity. |
| Epicenter | The point on the Earth's surface directly above the hypocenter (or focus), which is the underground location where an earthquake or explosion originates. |
| Volcano | A vent, fissure, or opening in the Earth's crust (or another planet's surface) that allows molten rock (magma), ash, and gases to escape from below the surface |
| Hot Spot | A small area or region with a relatively hot temperature in comparison to its surroundings. |
