How many times can u use a vacuum before ur cut off? 3 times
What is an episiotomy? Cut to the perineum to give more room for babies head to come out.
What are the indications for a C section? Placenta previa or accreta, cephalopelvic disproportion, placental abruption, active genital herpes, cord prolapse, arrest of descent/dilation, nonreassuring fetal R, uterine incisions.
If a patient has active genital herpes, wants to deliver, and did not receive valtrex at 35-36 weeks, what is the protocol for delivery? C section.
What are the risks of VBAC? Uterine rupture
What is important history to gather before a VBAC? How many past C sections, if the c section cut was a low transverse, and what was the reason for the c section.
Can you do a VBAC after a T cut or a classical c section? No son
The 3rd stage of labor is the Delivery of the placenta.
How long does the 3rd stage of labor last post delivery? What are the possible signs of separation? It lasts 30 minutes post delivery, some of the possible signs of separation are if the uterus rises up in the abdomen, the umbilical cord lengthens, and if theres a sudden trickle or spurt of blood.
Why is oxytocin given at delivery? To prevent hemorrhage
Methergine is contraindicated in mothers with hypertension
Hemabate is contraindicated in mothers with asthma
If a patient has asthma and hypertension, and oxytocin is off the table, what do we use next? Cytotec(misoprostol) rectally.
What is the 4th stage of delivery?
