Conceptos básicos de funciones

TermDefinition
Dominio Conjunto de valores de x para los cuales existe una función.
Recorrido Conjunto de valores de y para los cuales existe una función.
Puntos de corte (P.C.) Intersecciones de la gráfica con los ejes cartesianos: eje x: (x, 0), eje y: (0, y).
Monotonía Estudio del crecimiento o decrecimiento de una función en los diferentes intervalos de su dominio.
Extremos Puntos donde la función alcanza su valor máximo o mínimo (pueden ser relativos o absolutos).
Simetría Propiedad de la función respecto al eje y: par→ f(-x)=f(x) o al origen: impar→ f(-x)= -f(x).
Continuidad Característica de una función cuya gráfica puede dibujarse sin levantar el lápiz del papel (sin saltos).
Periodicidad Comportamiento de las funciones cuyos valores se repiten a intervalos regulares llamados periodos (T).
Asíntotas Rectas a las que la gráfica de una función se aproxima indefinidamente sin llegar a tocarla.
Tendencias Comportamiento de la función cuando la variable se hace muy grande (+inf) o muy pequeña (-inf).
