parliament The legislator, or lawmaking group, in the government of England. Parliament is the law making body in England that passed many of the King's taxes.
No taxation without representation The belief that a government does not have the right to tax a group of people without them being represented in the government. American Patriots held this Viewpoint.
Boycott To refuse to buy used or participate in something as a way of protesting. A way colonists protested British taxes in controls
writs of assistance , search warrants, authorized british officers to search any house for smuggled Goods without specifying either the house or the goods. Colonists saw this as a violation of their rights
Repeal To revoke or rescind,. Especially by an official or formal Act. To cancel a law.. The king repealed some of the taxes passed when the colonist protested.
Patriot or Rebel Colonists who chose to fight for Independence
Loyalist or Tory Two terms that describe colonists who remained loyal to Great Britain
