| Phenotype | the way an individual looks for a specific trait or characteristic. |
| pedigree | a graphic organizer that keeps track of the biological relationships of parents and offspring and their variations of a specific trait. |
| sexual reproduction | when an egg cell and sperm cell combine to develop into an offspring. |
| Chromosomes | physical structures that are passed from parents to offspring in egg and sperm cells. |
| karyotype | an image of the number and visual appearance of the chromosomes in the cells of an organism. |
