Citizens in Athens free adult male over age 20 who was born in Athens took part in the city-states assembly (Ecclesia) every member of the assembly had 1 vote. all decisions were made by majority rule (idea that received the most votes became law)
Non-Citizens in Athens Athenian women, foreign-born men (men not born in Athens), & enslaved people. Traders & other workers who were not born in Athens but lived there were called metics did not have the rights of citizens & could not own land excluded from the political process (could not participate in the government)
Playwrights Accomplishment/Advancement Literature: books and writings published on a particular subject written works, especially those considered of superior or lasting value Created & performed the 1st dramas Greek drama: ÷ into 2 categories - tragedy & comedy playwrights = ppl who wrote the plays 4 writes emerged as the greatest Greek writers: Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, & Aristophanes Aristophanes = most famous writer (comedies)
