Point Of View Who tells the story.
Primary Purpose The main reason it was written.
Relevant vs. Irrelevant Relevant: Applicable and important. Irrelevant: Non-applicable.
Primary or Primarily The main reason.
Connotation The emotion or idea that comes to mind with a word.
Revision The action of revising.
Formal vs. Informal Formal: Serious style of communication. Informal: Casual style of writing or talking.
Emphasis Special importance or value.
Contribute To give something in order to help.
Interference To get in the way of or stop something temporarily.
Omit/Omission To leave something out.
Antonym Opposite word.
Synonym Similar word.
Analogy A literary tool that compares two unlike things to highlight a shared characteristic.
Allusion a brief, indirect reference to a well-known person, place, event, or literary/artistic work that allows a writer to convey ideas.
Interrogotive Interrogate or question.
Indicative Indicate or state something.
Subjunctive To wish something.
Imperative Command or important.
Conditional Under the right condition this could happen.
Stanza A paragraph in poetry.
Dialogue The conversation.
Maintain Focus Keep ones attention.
Acknowledge an opposing viewpoint Neutrally identifying a counterargument, and demonstrating and understanding of different perspectives.
Convey meaning to communicate in away that helps you understand what something means.
Active vs. Passive voice Active: something that is actively happening. VS Passive: something done to you.
Dash Abrupt change in thought.
Ellipsis Separation of listed items, omit information, or a pause in the story.
