Waves

The study of waves and their property

TermDefinition
waves a disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another without transferring matter.
mechanical wave a wave that travels only through matter.
medium a material in which a wave travels.
transverse wave a wave in which the disturbance is waves include a flag moving in the wind.
longitudinal wave causes the particles in a medium to move parallel to the direction that the wave travels
sound wave a longitudinal wave that can travel only through matter.
