| Breeding: | the process of mating animals or crossing plants to produce offspring |
| Crossing | producing offspring by breeding parents with different traits |
| Evidence: | information that supports or refutes a claim |
| Gene | a specific sequence of DNA that determines one or more traits |
| Heredity: | the passage of genetic information from one generation to the next |
| Hypothesis | a possible explanation for observations, facts, or event that may be tested by further investigation |
| inherited | a trait that is passed from parent(s) to offspring |
| Model | any representation of a system or its components used to help one understand and communicate how the system works |
| Pattern | something that happens in a repeated and predictable way |
| Asexual reproduction: | a process by which organisms make exact copies of themselves without the union of gametes (sperm and egg cells) |
| Clone | an off spring produced by asexual reproduction, either naturally or through artificial processes, that is identical to the parent |
| Egg cell | a cell produced by a female that contains half the number of chromosomes present in other in other body cells; a female reproductive cell |
