Wave a disturbance that carries Energy as it travels

Mechanical Wave a wave that requires a medium to travel through (can’t travel through a vacuum like space)
2 Types of Mechanical Wave Transverse Longitudinal (compressional)
Transverse Wave a wave that moves in a perpendicular (up and down) direction
Crest high points
Trough low points
Amplitude distance between the crest/trough and the resting point
Wavelength distance between 2 crests or 2 troughs
As amplitude increases, what do you think also increases? ENERGY!!
Longitudinal (Compressional) Wave a wave that travels in the Same direction as the vibrations that produce it
Frequency the number of waves that pass a given point in a certain amount of time
Transverse Wave measurement - measured crest to crest or trough to trough
Longitudinal Wave measurement - distance from one compression to the next compression
