|---|---|
| Cell | the smallest structural, functional, and biological unit of all living organisms |
| Osmosis | the passive, net movement of water molecules through a semipermeable membrane from a region of lower solute concentration (higher water potential) to a region of higher solute concentration (lower water potential) |
| Cell Wall | a foundational scientific principle stating that all living organisms are composed of one or more cells, cells are the basic unit of structure and function in organisms, and all cells arise from pre-existing cells |
| Cell Membrane | a thin, flexible, semipermeable barrier surrounding all living cells, separating the cytoplasm from the external environment. |
| Nucleus | the control center of a eukaryotic cell or the dense core of an atom. |
| Organelle | a specialized, membrane-bound structure within a eukaryotic cell that performs specific, essential functions, acting similarly to a "little organ" in the body. |
