Waves

The study of waves and their properties

wave move one's hand to and fro in greeting or as a signal
mechanical wave waves that require a medium in order to transfer energy away from their source
medium an agency or means of doing something.
transverse wave a wave vibrating at right angles to the direction of its propagation.
longitudinal wave a wave vibrating in the direction of propagation.
sound vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear./ sound produced by continuous and regular vibrations, as opposed to noise./ emit or cause to emit sound.
amplify increase the volume of (sound), especially using an amplifier.
frequency the rate at which something occurs or is repeated over a particular period of time or in a given sample.
wavelength It is the distance a wave travels before the next wave cycle starts.
pitch the quality of a sound governed by the rate of vibrations producing it; the degree of highness or lowness of a tone.
