Waves

The study of waves and their proprieties

TermDefinition
Waves Is a disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another without transferring matter.
mechanical wave Is a wave that travels only through matter.
medium A material in which a wave travels .
transverse wave Is a wave in which the disturbance is perpendicular to the direction the wave travels.
sound wave
longitudinal wave Where the particles I the medium are closest together are compressions.
pitch The perception of how high or low a sound seems
amplitude is the maximum distance that the wave moves from its rest position
wavelength you measure transverse waves from one crest to the next and from one trough to the next
frequency the number of time a pattern repeats in a given time
