Waves

The study of waves and their properties

TermDefinition
Wave A wave is a disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another without transferring matter.
Mechanical Wave A mechanical wave is a wave that travels only through matter.
Meduim wave can also travel through meduim
Transverse Wave Transverse Wave is wave in which the disturbance is a perppendicular to the direction the wave travels
Longitudinal Wave Longitudinal Wave causes the particles in a medium to move parallel to the direction that the wave travels
Sound Wave A Sound Wave is a Longitudinal Wave that can travel only through matter.
