| third person limited | narrator;focuses on one character; only follows one characters thoughts |
| third person omniscient | narrator; knows all/all knowing being; follows all characters thoughts. |
| Central Theme | The overarching idea or lesson in a text |
| Central Idea | the main idea |
| Phrase | shorter than a sentence but longer than a word; a group of words that make sense |
| transition/transitional phrase | a word or group of words that bridge two ideas in writing. |
| Revision | the action of revising |
| revised | changed, updated, or improved, usually after reviewing something and deciding it needs correction or refinement. |
| formal tone | professional, structured way of communicating |
| informal tone | relaxed, conversational style used in casual situations. |
| objective summary | a concise version of the text without an opinion |
| concise/precise | concise means straight to the point but precise means exact |
| conclusion | end or inference |
| claim vs. counterclaim | claim = argument counterclaim = opposing viewpoint |
| perspective | your opinion or interpertaion |
| point of view | who is telling the story |
| primary purpose | the main reason it was written |
| relevant vs. irrelevant | relevant - applicable, applies irrelevant - not applicable, random |
| primary or primarily | the main reason |
| connotation | the emotion or the idea that goes along with the meaning of the word. |
| emphasis | special importance, value, or prominence given something |
| contribute | to help to cause, to bring about |
| inference | a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning |
