Vocab that is needed to learn before science test.

| Rotation | The spinning of Earth on it's axis, causing day and night. |
| Revolution | The movement of Earth around the Sun, taking approximately one year. |
| Axis | The imaginary line around which a planet spins. |
| Orbit | The path one celestial body takes around another. |
| Eclipse | An event where one celestial body moves into the shadow of another celestial body. |
| Solstice | The two times in the year where the Sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator, resulting in the longest and shortest days. |
| Equinox | The two times in the year when day and night are of equal length, occurring when the Sun crosses the celestial equator. |
| Lunar Phases | The different appearances of the Moon as seen from Earth, resulting from the Moon's position relative to Earth and the Sun. |
| Tide | The periodic rise and fall of sea levels caused by the gravitational interactions between Earth, the Moon, and the Sun |
| Gravity | The force that attracts a body toward the center of the Earth or toward any other physical body having mass. |
| Solar Eclipses | An event where the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking all or part of the Sun's light. |
| Lunar Eclipses | An event where the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, causing Earth's shadow to fall on the Moon. |
| Spring Tide | A tide with the greatest difference between high and low water levels occurring during new and full moons. |
| Neap Tide | A tide with the least difference between high and low water levels, occurring during the first and third quarter moons. |
| Seasons | Periods of the year characterized by specific weather patterns and daylight hours, resulting from Earth's axial tilt. |
| Waxing | The phase of the Moon where its visible surface area is increasing. |
| Waning | The phase of the Moon where its visible surface area is decreasing. |
| Penumbra | The lighter, outer part of a shadow cast during an eclipse. |
| Umbra | The darkest part of a shadow cast during an eclipse. |
