Waves

The study of waves and their properties

TermDefinition
Wave Is a disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another without transferring matter.
Mechanical Wave Is a wave that travels only through water.
Medium A material in which a wave travels .
Transverse Wave A wave in which the disturbance is perpendicular to the direction the wave travels>
Longitudinal Wave The particles in a medium to move parallel to the direction that the wave travels.
Sound Wave A longitudinal wave that can travel only through matter
