| Third Person Omniscient | Can see all characters, has a narrarator. |
| Phrase | A cluster of words that have meaning. |
| Transitional Phrase | A word or group of words that bridge ideas in writing. |
| Central Idea | Main Idea. |
| Central Theme | Lesson or overarching idea. |
| Formal VS Informal | Formal language is structured, polite, used for proffesional academic contexts. Informal is casual, conversational, personal. |
| Revision/Revise | The act of processing, altering or re-examining something. |
| Objective Summary | Concise version of the text that has no opinion. |
| Concise/Precise | Precise means exact. Concise means straight to the point. |
| Conclusion | End or inference. |
| Claim or Counterclaim. | Claim means argument. Counterclaim means opposing viewpoint. |
| Perspective | Your opinion or interpretation. |
| Point of View | Who is telling the story. |
| Primary Purpose | The main reason it was written. |
| Relevant vs. Irrelevant | Relevant means applicable. Irrelevant means not applicable. |
| Primary or Primarily | The main reason. |
| Connotation | The emotion or idea that goes with the meaning of the word. |
| Contribute | To help to cause or bring about. |
| Inference | A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning. |
| Analogy | An extended metaphor. |
| Allusion | A reference. |
| Omit/Omission | Leave something out. |
| Antonym | Opposite word. |
| Synonym | Similar word with the same meaning. |
| Interrogative | To be questioned. |
| Indicative | A statement |
| Subjunctive | A wish. |
| Imperative | A command. |
| Conditional | Under the right conditions, something may happen. |
| Stanza | Like a paragraph, but in poetry. |
| Dialouge | The conversation. |
| Maintain Focus | Keep ones attention. |
| Acknoledge an opposing viewpoint | Neutrally identifying a counterargument and demonstrating an understanding of different perspectives. |
| Convey meaning | To communicate in a way that helps you understand what something means. |
| Active vs. Passive Voice | Active: when the subject or you are actively doing something. Passive: when something is happening. |
| Ellipsis... | Seperation of lines, a pause in the story, and omit information. |
