KAP vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Third person limited Narrator focuses on one person.
Third person omniscient Narrator uses the perspective of multiple people.
Phrase A group of words that mean something when put together.
Transition/Transitional Phrase Moves the reader from one idea to the next.
Central Theme An idea or lesson that runs through a narrative text.
Central Idea The main idea.
Revision/Revised To correct or improve writing/work.
Formal vs. Informal Tone Formal tone is standard english, correct grammar, and little to no slang. Informal tone is more casual and used mainly in conversation.
Objective Summary A concise version of the text without any bias or opinion.
Concise vs. Precise Concise means succinct. Precise means with precision, targeted, and exact.
Conclusion The ending/inference in a story.
Claim/Counterclaim An argument or opinion/the opposing viewpoint.
Perspective How you see/understand something.
Point of View Who is telling the story.
Primary Purpose The main reason something is written.
Relevant vs. Irrelevant Relevance proves a point/is applicable. Irrelevance is not applicable.
Primarily or Primary The main reason/first.
Connotation The emotion or idea that comes to mind with a word.
Omit To leave something out
Allusion A reference to something
Antonym Words with opposite meanings
Synonym Words with the same meaning.
Analogy A comparison between two things.
Interrogate To question.
Indicative Indicate/statement.
Subjunctive To wish.
Imperative Important command.
Conditional Under the right conditions this could happen.
Stanza A paragraph in poetry
Dialogue The conversation
Acknowledge an Opposing Viewpoint Neutrally identifying a counterargument and show an understatement.
Maintain Focus To keep attention.
Convey Meaning To communicate in a way that helps you understand what something means.
Active vs Passive Voice Active is when the subject does something and passive is when something happens to the subject.
Dash- An abrupt change in thought.
Ellipsis... Pause in the story, omit information, and separation of items.
