Cell Organelles
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Which organelles are found in both plant and animal cells? | Nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosome, Endoplasmic reticulum, vacuole, mitochondria, golgi apparatus |
| Which organelles are found in only plant cells? | cell wall, chloroplast |
| Which organelle is only found in animal cells? | Lysosome |
| Which organelle controls the cell's activities? | Nucleus |
| Which organelle provides "power" or energy to the cell? | Mitochondria |
| What is the function of the ribosomes? | Make proteins |
| What is the function of the cell membrane? | To allow substances in and out of the cell. To protect the cell. |
| What is the job of the cytoplasm? | To protect the cell organelles |
| Which organelle can be smooth or rough? | Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) |
| Why are their two different ER's? | Rough has ribosomes attached to it smooth does not. |
| Which organelle does gets rid waste or old organelles? | Lysosome |
| Which organelle stores food, water and waste? | Vacuole |
| What is the function of the chloroplast? | To use light energy to make food for the plant. |
| What is the function of the cell wall? | To protect the plant cells from harmful organisms or viruses and to maintain shape and give structural support. |
| What is the function of the golgi apparatus? | To prepare proteins for their specific jobs |
| Which organelle transports substances from one area to another? | Vesicles |
| Be able to label both the plant and animal cell and where organelles are found in each. I have both posted on google classroom for you to study from. | Look on google classroom or in your binder for the labeling sheets. |
| What is the function of the smooth ER? | To be the site of protein production |
| What is the function of the rough ER? | To remove harmful substances from the cell |
