The study of waves and propeties

QuestionAnswer
wave a disturbance that transfers energy onen place to another without matter
mechanical wave only travels through matter
medium a material in which waves travels is called a medium
transverse wave a wave in which the disturbances is perpendicular to the direction the wave travels.
longitudinal wave a longitudinal wave causes particles in a medium to move particles the direction the waves travel
sound wave a wave that can travel through matter
amplitude is the maximum distance that the wave moves from its rest position
wavelength the distance between one point on a wave to the same point on the next wave.
frequency the number of times the pattern repeats in given time.
pitch how low or high the sound is
