question answer
reference point the starting point you choose to describe the location or position of an object
position an object distance and direction from a reference point
motion is the process of changing positions
displacement is the different between the initial or starting position and the final position
speed is the measure of distance an object travels in given amount of time
velocity is the speed and direction of moving object
vector is a quantity that both magnitude and direction
acceleration is a measure of the change in velocity
force is a push or pull of an object
contact force is a push or pull an object by another object that is touching it
newtons 2nd law the acceleration of an object equals the net force on the object divided by the objects mass
friction is a force that resists the sliding motion of two surfaces that are touching
free body diagram is a simple model to understand system of objects with any amount of applied force
net force is the sum of all the forces acting on a object
newtons first law of motion states that an object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted by a force
