| erythrocytes | Red blood cells; they carry oxygen around the body. |
| plasma | The yellow liquid part of blood that carries nutrients, hormones, and waste. |
| thrombocytes | Tiny cells that help blood clot to stop bleeding |
| hemoglobin | A protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. |
| sickle cell disease | A genetic condition where red blood cells are shaped like sickles and don’t carry oxygen well. |
| leukemia | Cancer of the blood or bone marrow that affects white blood cells. |
| hematocrit | The percentage of blood made up of red blood cells. |
