Health and public safety

Virucidal Capable of destroying viruses
Fungicidal Capable of destroying molds and fungi
Bactericidal Capable of destroying bacteria
Contagious disease (communicable) A disease is capable of being spread from one person to another
Indirect transmission Contact with an intermediate contaminated object
Direct transmission Transmission of pathogens through touching, kissing, coughing, sneezing, talking
Cleaning Soap/detergent and water used to remove all visible dirt, debris and many disease causing germs
Sanitizing Chemical process reducing the number of disease causing germs
Disinfecting Chemical process for non porous items, destroying harmful organisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi
Sterilizing Destroys all microbial life including spores, generally with use of an autoclave
