Chapter 7 math vocab

TermDefinition
Bisect To divide a geometric object into two congruent parts
Circle The set of all points on a flat surface that are the same distance from a fixed point
Consecutive Angles of a Polygon The angles that occur at the two ends of any side of a polygon
Diameter A line segment drawn through the center of a circle with both endpoints on the circle
Face One of the flat surfaces of a polyhedron, including the base(s)
Kite A quadrilateral with two distinct pairs of consecutive congruent sides
Radius A line segment drawn from the center of a circle to a point on the circle
Regular Polygon Convex with congruent angles and congruent sides
Square A quadrilateral with four right angles and four congruent sides
Edge In three dimensions, a line segment formed by the intersection of two faces of a polyhedron
Midpoint Divides a segment into two segments of equal length
Rectangle A quadrilateral with four right angles
Rhombus A quadrilateral with four congruent sides
Tetrahedron A geometric solid having four faces that are equilateral triangles
Trapazoid A quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides
Vertex A point where two or more line segments or rays meet to form a "corner," such as in a polygon or angle
Central Angle An angle with its vertex at the center of a circle
Diagonal A segment that connects two vertices of the polygon but is not a side of the polygon
Exterior Angle When a side of a polygon is extended to form an angle with an adjacent side outside of the polygon
Isosceles Trapezoid A quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides and a pair of equal base angles (from the same base)
Midsegment Joins the midpoints of two sides of a triangle
Parallelogram A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides
Reflexive Property States that any expression is always equal to itself
Right Trapezoid A quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides and two right angles

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
