QuestionAnswer
Non-renewable Nonrenewable natural resource or source of energy.
Renewable A source of energy that is not depleted by use, such as water, wind, or solar power.
Smog Fog or haze combined with smoke and other atmospheric pollutants.
Aquifer A body of permeable rock which can contain or transmit groundwater.
Aqueducts A man-made channel or conduit designed to transport water from a remote source to a distribution point, typically using gravity alone. (transportation)
Desertification The process by which fertile land becomes desert, typically as a result of drought, deforestation, or inappropriate agriculture.
Deforestation The action of clearing a wide area of trees.
Reforestation The process of replanting trees or allowing natural regeneration in areas where forests have been previously depleted, removed, or degraded due to human activity.
Densification The process of increasing the density, compactness, or concentration of something within a given area or volume.
Crop rotation The agricultural practice of growing different types of crops in the same area across a sequence of growing seasons to improve soil health.
Acid rain Any form of precipitation—rain, snow, fog, hail, or dust—that contains elevated levels of sulfuric and nitric acids.
Semiarid Dry but having slightly more rain than an arid region or climate.
Global warning The long-term, rapid rise in the Earth's average surface temperature, primarily caused by human activities that increase greenhouse gas concentrations.
Terraces Make or form (sloping land) into a number of level flat areas resembling a series of steps.
Tree lines the line or altitude above which no trees grow.
