QuestionAnswer
Location Where a place is on Earth.
Absolute location The exact location (latitude and longitude)
Relative location Where a place is compared to other places (near, north of, next to, etc.).
Place What makes a place special or different
Region An area where places are alike in some way
Movement How people, goods, and ideas move from place to place.
Human-Environment Interaction How people use and change their environment
Northeast A small, crowded region with big cities, four seasons, and early U.S. history
Southeast A warm region with farms, beaches, and strong traditions.
Midwest A flat region with lots of farms and the Great Lakes.
Southwest A hot, dry region with deserts and strong Native American and Hispanic culture
West A large region with many land types like mountains, forests, and beaches
Climate The usual weather in a place over a long time.
Place (EXAMPLE) The Grand Canyon is special because of its deep canyons, desert climate, and unique rock formations.
Region (EXAMPLE) The Midwest includes various places / states there share similar flat land, farming, and climate
Movement (EXAMPLE) Food grown in California is shipped by trucks and trains to grocery stores across the country.
Human-Environment Interaction (EXAMPLE) People build dams on rivers to control flooding and create electricity
Location (EXAMPLE) Chicago is located in the northeastern part of Illinois along Lake Michigan.
