Precise POS: adj. Definition: Exact and detailed Sentence: Architects make precise diagrams of buildings.
Credibility POS: n. Definition: The quality of being trustworthy Sentence: Authors must ensure their sources have credibility.
Relevant POS: adj. Definition: Pertaining to or applicable to a topic; germane Sentence: In essays, all evidence must be relevant to the topic.
Bias POS: n. Definition: General tendency or leaning in one direction; partial toward one view over another Sentence: Members on a court must be without bias.
Counterclaim POS: n. Definition: An opposing claim that disagrees with the thesis Sentence: A counterclaim shows that an author considered both sides of the argument.
Rebuttal POS: n. Definition: Response to the counterclaim. Rebuttals support the claim in an argument/ debate Sentence: His rebuttal was very good, completely rebuffing the counterclaim.
Purpose POS: n. Definition: The intent or aim Sentence: The purpose of imperialism was to gain power.
Audience POS: n. Definition: The person/people for whom a text is written Sentence: One aspect of a good introduction is a clearly identified audience.
Expository techniques POS: n. Definition: The elements an author uses that focus on central idea, provide evidence and examples, and present logical conclusions Sentence: I use expository techniques to improve my argumentative essay.
