| physical changes | a change in matter which does not alter the chemical properties of the matter |
| physical properties | a property that can be measured without changing the chemical composition of a substance |
| chemical changes | processes or events that have altered the fundamental structure of something |
| homogeneous solution | Of the same or similar nature or kind. |
| heterogeneous solution | Composed of parts having dissimilar characteristics or properties |
| distillation | vaporization; the process of vaporizing and condensing a substance to purify it or to separate a volatile substance from less volatile substances. |
