| Leader | a person or animal who leads |
| Leadership | the office or position of a leader |
| Power | ability to act or produce and effect |
| Position Power | the power given to individuals because of their specific rank or position in an organization |
| Reward Power | one of many powers granted to a manager or leader that authorizes them to give a reward to an employee as an incentive |
| Expert Power | when an individual is seen to be an expert in a certain subject, which is used to influence others |
| Identity Power | ability to influence others based on their identity with the person |
| Leadership Style | the manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans, and motivating people to accomplish a task |
| Initiative | an introductory step |
| Human Relations | the study and practice of managing interpersonal relationships, group dynamics, and employee needs to create a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment |
| Integrity | the quality of being honest and having a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values |
| Autocratic Leadership | one person controls all the decisions and takes very little inputs from other group members |
| Democratic Leadership | when the leader invites people into decision making by gathering input, perspectives and ideas before shaping direction |
| Free-rein Leadership | a hands off management style where leaders provide minimal direction, allowing highly skilled team members to make decisions, foster innovation, and manage their own work |
| Delegate | entrust a task or responsibility to another person, typically one who is less senior than oneself |
| Self-managed teams | groups of employees who work together to accomplish shared goals without direct, day-to-day supervision |
| Open Leader | having the confidence and humility to give up the need to be in control while inspiring commitment from people to accomplish goals |
| Situational Leader | when a more experienced individual, such as a manager within an organization, guides you through a process in a specific situation to achieve success |
