Coordinate Planes

TermDefinition
coordinate plane a flat 2D surface, like a grid, used to find and plot locations
x-axis horizontal number line on a coordinate plane
y-axis vertical number line on a coordinate plane
quadrants four sections on a coordinate plane created by the x-axis and y-axis intersecting
origin the center point where the x and y axis meet (0, 0)
ordered pair the "address" of a point - the first number (x) tells you how far to move left or right, and the second number (y) tells you how far to move up or down
