Due Process Hearing A noncourt proceeding held before an impartial hearing officer.
Traveling notebooks Goes back in forth between school and home. Appropriate for students who see professionals.
MBPBS Mindfulness-Based Positive Behavior Support combines mindfulness practices as well as behavioral principles to deal with children's challenging behavior.
BPT Behavioral Parent Training focuses on the child's behavior as a way to relieve stressful relations in the family.
Cohesion To the degree to which an individual family member is free to act independently of other family members.
Adaptability To the degree to which families are able to change their modes of interaction when they encounter unusual or stressful situations.
Family Functions The numerous routines where families engage to meet their many and diverse needs.
Family systems theory That treatment and educational programs will be more likely to succeed if they take into account the relationships and interactions among family members.
Family-centered model Professionals encourage the families to make their own decisions with respect to services, while mobilizing resources, etc.
Relaxation Response Brought about from meditation, and counteracts the physiological effects from stress.
Parent-teacher conferences Conferences where the teacher and parents meet. It can be an effective way for teachers to share information with the parents.
