Endocrine System releases hormones into the blood stream
Gland makes more hormones and other substances
Receptor Cell binds to a specific substance and causes a specific effect int the cell
Target Cell responds to a hormone because it bears receptors for the hormone
Estrogen maintains sexual and reproductive health
Progesterone help prevent changes in the uterus in women
Testosterone develop and maintain male sex characteristics
Insulin moves glucose from blood into cells all over body
Cortisol influences metabolism, stress response, inflammatory signaling.
Adrenaline helps react quickly in a stressful situation
Vasopressin helps blood vessels constrict and helps kidneys control amount of water and salt in body
Growth Hormone governs height
Positive Feedback Loop gets things out the body
Negative Feedback Loop helps body maintain homeostasis
Type 1 Diabetes a chronic condition that affects the insulin making cells of the pancreas
Type 2 Diabetes happens when the body cannot use insulin correctly and sugar builds up in the blood
