RESPONDEAT SUPERIOR the pronciple that employers are responsible for the torts (wrongs) of their employees
SCIENTER knowingly; often guilty knowledge or knowledge of a crime
SINE DIE without a day being set; indefinitely
SLANDER defamation conveyed by the spoken word
SUB ROSA in strict confidence
SIC means as spoken
SOTTO VOCE means soft voice
STARE DECISIS to abide by decided cases; follow previous law
STATUE OF LIMITATIONS refers to a time period
STIPULATION an agreement between the parties to a case or between counsel
SUBORNATION the procuring of another to commit perjury
SUBPOENA DUCES TECUM a writ commanding a person to produce in court a certain document or evidence
