How did new technologies affect daily life in the 1920s? They made life easier, faster, and more enjoyable.
What is credit and interest? Credit is borrowed money, and interest is the extra percentage charged for borrowing it.
What is installment buying? Paying for items over time with small monthly payments instead of paying all at once.
What caused many Americans to fall into debt? Overbuying without having enough money to pay.
Did all Americans benefit from prosperity in the 1920s? No, some groups faced economic hardship.
What was the 1920s also called? The Roaring Twenties.
Why was it called the Roaring Twenties? Because of rapid economic growth and major cultural changes.
What was one of the most popular forms of entertainment? Radio
What new music style became popular during the 1920s? Jazz.
What energetic dance became popular in the 1920s? The Charleston.
What was the 19th Amendment? It gave women the right to vote in 1920.
What new technologies appeared during the 1920s? Talking movies, radios, electric refrigerators, washing machines, razors, and major highways.
Who were some famous figures of the 1920s? Amelia Earhart – famous pilot Charles Lindbergh – first solo Atlantic flight Howard Carter – discovered King Tutankhamun’s tomb Alexander Fleming – discovered penicillin
Who were suffragists? Women who fought for equal rights, including the right to vote.
What was Prohibition? A nationwide ban on alcohol under the 18th Amendment, later ended by the 21st Amendment.
