adrenalitis (ah-DREE-nah-LAI-tis) inflammation of the adrenal gland
adrenocortical insuffciency (ah-DREE-noh-KORT-ih-kal IN-suh-FISH-en-see) condition in which the adrenal cortex underproduces necessary hormones
adrenocorticohyperplasia (ah-DREE-noh-KORT-ih-koh-HAI-per-PLAY-zhah) overdevlopment of the cortex of the adrenal gland
congenital adrenal hyperplasia (kon-JEN-ih-tal ah-DREE-nal HAI-per-PLAY-zhah) genetic disease in which the adrenal gland is overdeveloped, resulting in a deficiency of certain hormones and an overproductioon of others
diabetes mellitus (DAI-ah-BEET-eez MEL-ih-tis) metabolic disease characterized by excessive urination and hyperglycemia (Dibetes is an ancient greek word that refers to any condition that causes excessive urination. Mellitus (which means honey)
diabetic ketoacidosis (DAI-ah-BET-ik KEET-oh-ASS-ih-DOH-sis) acidity of the blood caused by the presence of ketone bodies produced when the body is unable to burn sugar; thus, it must burn fat for energy
pancreatic pseudocyst (PANG-kree-at-ik SOO-doh-sist) abnormally expanded area in the pancreas resembling a cyst
pancreatitis (PANG-kree-ah-TAIT-is inflammation of the pancreas
pancreatolith (PAN-kree-AT-oh-lith) stone in the pancreas
pancreatolithiasis (PAN-kree-ah-toh-lih-THAI-ah-sis) presence of a stone in pancreas
hyperpituitarism (HAI-per-pih-TOO-ih-tar-IZM) overfunctioning of the pituitary gland
hypophysitis inflammation of the pituitray gland
hypopituitarism (HAI-poh-pih-TOO-ih-tar-IZM) condition caused by the undersecretion of the pituitary gland
panhypopituitarism (PAN-HAI-poh-pih-TOO-ih-tar-IZM) defective or absent function of the entire pituitray gland
pituitary infraction (pih-TOO-ih-TEH-ree in-FARK-shun) death of the pituitray gland (infarction means blocked blood vessel or block to death of tissue)
hyperparathyroidism (HAI-per-PAR-ah-THAI-roid-IZM) overproduction by the parathryroid glands
hyperthyroidism (HAI-per-THAI-roid-IZM) overproduction by the thyroid
hypoparathyroidism (HAI-poh-PAR-ah-THAI-roid-IZM) underproduction by the parathyroid
hypothyroidism (HAI-poh-THAI-roid-IZM) underproduction by the thyroid
thyroiditis (THAI-roid-AI-tis) inflammation of the thyroid
thyrotoxicosis (THAI-roh-TOK-sih-KOH-sis) condition caused by the exposure of body tissue to excessive levels of thryoid hormone (an extreme version of this is known as "thyroid storm")
adenocarcinoma (AD-en-oh-KAR-sin-OH-mah) cancerous tumor of a gland
adenoma (AD-en-OH-mah) glandular tumor
adrenal adenoma (ad-REE-nal Ad-en-OH-mah) tumor of the adrenal gland
adenocortical carcinoma (ah-DREE-noh-KORT-in-kal KAR-sin-OH-mah) cancerous tumor originiating in the cortex of the adrenal gland
Insulinoma (IN-suh-oih-NOH-mah) tumor that secretes insulin (found in the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas)
parathryoidoma (PAR-ah-THAI-roid-OH-mah) tumor of the parathryroid
pituitary adenoma (pih-TOO-ih-TEH-ree AD-en-Oh-ma) tumor on the pituitary gland
thymoma (thai-MOH-mah) tumor of the thymus
