Geometry Vocab 8

TermDefinition
Diagonal a straight line segment connecting two opposite vertices of a polygon or polyhedron
Parallelogram a flat, four-sided closed polygon (quadrilateral) characterized by having two pairs of opposite sides that are parallel and equal in length
Rhombus a quadrilateral (four-sided polygon) with all four sides of equal length, essentially acting as an equilateral parallelogram
Rectangle a quadrilateral with four right angles and opposite sides that are both parallel and equal in length
Square a quadrilateral with four equal-length sides and four equal angles
Trapezoid a quadrilateral (a four-sided polygon) with at least one pair of parallel sides, known as bases
Height of a Trapezoid The height (or altitude) of a trapezoid is the perpendicular distance between its two parallel sides, known as the bases
Kite a quadrilateral (four-sided polygon) with two distinct pairs of adjacent sides that are equal in length
Isosceles Trapezoid a convex quadrilateral with a line of symmetry bisecting one pair of opposite sides (the bases), featuring parallel bases and congruent non-parallel sides (legs)
Sum of Interior Angles Formula sum= (n-2) x 180 degrees
Sum of Exterior Angles Formula 360 degrees
