IT Computer Basics
| Term | Definition |

| Software | A computer program that tells the computer how to perform particular tasks. |
| Hardware | tools, machinery, and other durable equipment. |
| Input | a place where, or a device through which, energy or information enters a system. |
| Output | Information processed and delivered by a system to a user or device, such as a monitor or printer. |
| Hard Drive | a high-capacity, self-contained storage device containing a read-write mechanism plus one or more hard disks, inside a sealed unit. |
| Read Only Memory (ROM) | memory read at high speed but not capable of being changed by program instructions. |
| Random Access Memory (RAM) | the temporary, fast-access computer memory for active programs used to temporarily store data |
| Internet of Things (IoT) | connects everyday physical objects with sensors, software, and network connectivity, allowing them to collect, exchange, and act on data, |
| Laptop Computer | A portable, compact computer that can run on an electrical wall outlet and all components are in one compact unit. |
| Processing | interprets and manipulates data, turning input into meaningful output |
