Amendments

What does the 1st amendment protect? Freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition
What does the 2nd amendment protect? The right to own a gun
What does the 3rd amendment protect? Soldiers cannot live in your house without permission
What does the 4th amendment protect? Police need a reason or warrant to search you or your property
What does the 5th amendment give? The right to remain silent and fair treatment under the law
What does the 6th amendment guarantee? A fair and speedy trial and a lawyer in criminal cases
What does the 7th amendment protect? The right to a jury trial i civil cases
What does the 8th amendment ban? Cruel and unusual punishment
What does the 9th amendment mean? People have rights not listed in the constitution
What does the 10th amendment say? Powers not given to the federal government belong to the states or the people
