| succumb | to give in or be defeated |
| enhance | To improve something or make it better. |
| facilitate | To make something easier or help it happen. |
| excruciating | Very painful or extremely unpleasant. |
| renounce | To formally give up, reject, or abandon something |
| haven | A place of safety, refuge, or shelter |
| languish | To suffer from being forced to remain in an unpleasant situation; to weaken or decline |
