| Fiction | A type of literature that tells a made-up story, fake |
| Nonfiction | A type of literature that tells about real people, places, events, things, etc. |
| Genre | A classification of literature, such as fiction, nonfiction, drama, or poetry. |
| Drama | A play written to be performed by actors |
| Myth | a story that originated in the cultures of ancient peoples (such as Greeks and Romans) to explain events in nature |
| Tall Tale | An American hero folktale full of extreme exaggerations |
| Fable | A folktale, usually with talking animals, that always has a moral to it |
| Author | The person that wrote the story |
| Biography | A story written about someone’s life by someone else |
| Autobiography | An account of a person's life written by that person |
| Dystopia | a society where there is great suffering or injustice. |
| Utopia | an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. |
