What were the Bourbon Triumvirate beliefs? They believed Georgia should become more self-sufficient by producing and manufacturing it’s own goods.
How did the Bourbon Triumvirate accomplish their beliefs? They accomplished it by convincing Northern business es to invest in Georgia.
Who was Henry Grady? He was the editor of the Atlanta Constitution Newspaper.
What did Henry Grady believe? He believed Georgians should forget the past and create a new state based on industry and progress.
What was the International Cotton Exposition? Industrial fairs that spot lighted attention on the states cotton textile industry.
What was the impact of the International Cotton Exposition? It was a huge success and symbolized a new era in Georgia. It also brought a lot of businesses to Georgia.
What did populist believe? They believed political and economic power in Georgia was in the hands of the rich industries when they think shouldn’t because it makes it harder for the poor farmers.
Why did the populist party disagree with Henry Grady? They disagreed with him because he was for having the rich industries having power in Georgia.
How was Tom Watson a populist? Tom Watson was a populist by being elected to the house of representatives and argued for black men and white sharecroppers.
What was the result of the Plessy v Ferguson case? It made segregation legal.
What did separate but “equal” mean? It meant you can separate people with anything as long as it’s “equal.”
What were Jim Crow Laws? Segregation laws.
What’s the definition of Disenfranchisement? To not let people vote.
What’s a poll tax? A tax to vote.
What’s a literary test? A test that proves you can read and write.
What’s the Grandfather Clause? If you’re grandpa was a voter then you didn’t have to pay a poll tax.
What was the cause of the Atlanta Massacre 1906? The newspaper claimed black men were attacking white women, therefore white men attacked helpless black men that did nothing wrong.
What was the significance of the Atlanta Massacre 1906? It made race relationships worse.
What’s the summary of the Leo Frank case? The summary of the Leo Frank case is he was a Jewish man sent to Georgia to work in a pencil factory and was blamed for killing and raping a 13 year old girl.
What impact did the Leo Frank case have on Georgia? It symbolized several fears of Southerners at the time.
Who was Booker T. Washington? He was a teacher and believed Black people should not fight against segregation and accept the social separation.
Who was WEB Dubois? He was a teacher and believed African American people should speak out against discrimination and segregation.
Who was Alonzo Herndon? He was born into slavery and later on in adulthood opened his own barbershop. After that he started a life insurance business for black people to use and later on grew into a multi million dollar business.
What is the difference between Booker T. Washington and WEB Dubois’s beliefs? Booker thought Black people should not fight against segregation while WEB thought Black people should fight for their rights.
