Thyroid Gland Regulates metabolism, energy, and growth.
Thymus Helps develop the immune system.
Adrenal Gland Releases stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol.
Pancreas Regulates blood sugar with insulin.
Ovary Produces eggs, estrogen, and progesterone.
Testis Produces sperm and testosterone.
Hormone Chemical messenger carried in the bloodstream.
Endocrine System Glands that release hormones to regulate the body.
Gland Organ that produces and releases substances.
Receptor Cell Cell with receptors for specific hormones.
Target Cell Cell that responds to a hormone.
Estrogen Female sex hormone for reproductive development.
Progesterone Hormone that regulates menstrual cycle and pregnancy.
Testosterone Male sex hormone for development and muscle growth.
Insulin Lowers blood sugar by helping cells absorb glucose.
Cortisol Stress hormone that regulates metabolism.
Adrenaline Fight-or-flight hormone.
Vasopressin (ADH) Regulates water balance.
Growth Hormone Stimulates growth and cell repair.
Positive Feedback Loop Output increases the original stimulus.
Negative Feedback Loop Output reduces the original stimulus.
Type 1 Diabetes Body does not produce insulin.
Type 2 Diabetes Body resists or poorly uses insulin.
