Give several reasons Robert E. Lee decided to invade Maryland during the early part of the war. He wanted to convince the North to accept peace and the South’s independence. He wanted recognition from Britain so that they might come to their aid. He also wanted to feed his troops off of Northern farms.
Describe how troops fought in earlier wars and how technological advances such as the Henry Repeating rifle made those tactics less effective in the Civil War. Before the civil war, they would march in tight columns and fire mass volleys then bayonet charge. They used to use muskets that were not very accurate. However, when cone shaped bullets were made, the gun fire was a lot more accurate. trenches
What roles did women take on during the Civil War? Women became nurses, filled labor shortages in factories, and stayed home to manage family businesses.
Why did the south want international recognition during the Civil War? They needed assistance and they thought that cotton was king. They wanted to sell their cotton to Britain in return for their aid.
What were some advantages that the North enjoyed over the South in the Civil War? Bigger better navy, larger population, 80% of factories, more railroads, National treasury, and more big banks
