Scientific Investigation A scientific investigation is a systematic process used to explore observations, answer questions, and test hypotheses about the natural world using the scientific method.
Research Research is a systematic, evidence-based inquiry designed to discover, interpret, or revise knowledge. It involves collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to solve problems or understand phenomena.
Observation Observation in Qualitative Research | educational research ...Observation is the active process of gathering information by using senses or scientific tools to notice and record data, behaviors, or events in natural or controlled settings.
Inference A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
Hypothesis Hypothesis, A theory of estimated guess.
Experiment An experiment is a scientific procedure testing a hypothesis under controlled conditions to discover cause-and-effect, validate a theory, or determine the efficacy of something new, involving manipulation of variables and repeatable steps.
Independent Variable A variable (often denoted by x ) whose variation does not depend on that of another.
Dependent Variable A variable (often denoted by y ) whose value depends on that of another.
Controlled Variable Controlled variables (or constants) are factors kept intentionally unchanged throughout an experiment to ensure a fair test. By holding these elements steady, researchers isolate the relationship between the independent and dependent variables.
Control The power to influence or direct people's behavior or the course of events.
Data Facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.
Conclusion The end or finish of an event or process.
Analyze Examine methodically and in detail the constitution or structure of (something, especially information), typically for purposes of explanation and interpretation.
Scientific Bias Scientific Bias.
