| Hypothesis | a testable, proposed explanation or educated guess for an observation or phenomenon, serving as a starting point for scientific investigation, often framed as an "if, then" statement |
| Experiment | a scientific test or procedure performed to discover, demonstrate, or test a hypothesis by manipulating variables under controlled conditions to observe cause-and-effect relationships, gathering data to support or refute a theory |
| Independent Variable | the factor that is changed or controlled to explore its effects on an outcome |
