QuestionAnswer
Scientific Investigation a systematic plan for asking questions and testing possible answers to understand how the natural world works
Research a creative and systematic investigation conducted to discover new information, solve problems, or increase the overall stock of knowledge
Observation the active process of gathering information through the senses or scientific instruments to understand a phenomenon
Inference the process of reaching a conclusion or forming an opinion by using available evidence and reasoning rather than relying on direct statements
Hypothesis a tentative, testable explanation or prediction for a specific phenomenon, often serving as the starting point for further investigation.
Experiment a procedure or test carried out under controlled conditions to discover an unknown effect, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact
Independent Variable a factor that stands alone and is not changed by other variables being measured
Dependent Variable the factor being measured or tested to see how it responds to changes in another variable
Controlled Variable any factor that is purposely kept the same throughout an experiment to ensure that the results are reliable
Control the power or ability to direct, manage, or restrain something or someone
Data aw, factual information—such as measurements, observations, or figures—collected through experimentation or research to serve as evidence for conclusions
Conclusion the final part, result, or judgment reached at the end of a process, argument, or event
Analyze to examine something methodically and in detail, typically by breaking a complex whole into its component parts to better understand its nature, structure, or essential features
Scientific Bias a type of systematic error that causes study results or inferences to deviate from the truth
Data trends the general direction in which something is developing or changing over time
