Scientific Investigation a systematic process used to explore observations, answer questions, and test hypotheses about the natural world using the scientific method
Research a systematic, creative investigation conducted to increase knowledge, analyze information, and solve problems through structured methods like experiments, surveys, and analysis
Observation the active,, systematic process of monitoring, watching, or recording phenomena, behaviors, or data using the senses or scientific instruments.
Inference the logical process of reaching a conclusion or judgment based on evidence, reasoning, and prior knowledge rather than explicit statements
Hypothesis a tentative, testable, and falsifiable explanation for a specific phenomenon, observation, or scientific problem, acting as the foundation for further investigation
Experiment a controlled procedure carried out to test a hypothesis, examine the validity of a theory, or determine the efficacy of something previously untried
Independent Variable the factor in an experiment or study that is directly manipulated, changed, or chosen by the researcher to observe its effect on a dependent variable
Dependent Variable the measured, outcome factor in a study that changes in response to manipulations of the independent variable (IV)
Controlled Variable factors kept intentionally unchanged throughout an experiment to ensure a fair test
Control the power to direct, manage, or regulate people, machines, or processes
Data a collection of facts, observations, or measurements—numerical (quantitative) or descriptive (qualitative)—that are processed to create information
Conclusion acts as the final, essential component of an essay or research paper, summarizing arguments, reinforcing the thesis, and highlighting the broader significance of the findings
Analyze breaking down complex information, subjects, or substances into smaller parts to understand their essential features, causes, and relationships
