| Hypothesis | a simple, testable, proposed explanation or educated guess for an observation or phenomenon |
| Experiment | a procedure carried out to support or refute a hypothesis |
| Independent Variable | the one thing you change or control in an experiment to see what effect it has |
| Dependent Variable | The dependent variable is the variable that is being measured or tested in an experiment |
| Controlled Variable | factors kept intentionally unchanged throughout an experiment to ensure a fair test |

| Conclusion | the final step of an investigation, summarizing the results, evaluating the hypothesis |
