| Inference | A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning |
| Hypothesis | A supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation. |
| Experiment | A scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact. |
| Independent Variable | The factor in a scientific experiment that is deliberately manipulated, changed, or controlled by the researcher to test its effects on a dependent variable |
| Dependent Variable | The specific factor being measured, observed, or tested in a scientific experiment |
| Controlled Variable | Any factor, trait, or condition that is intentionally kept unchanged throughout an experiment to ensure a fair test |
| Control | A standard component of an experiment that remains untreated or unchanged to provide a baseline for comparing results and measuring the effect of independent variables |
| Data | An interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data |
| Conclusion | The final step of an investigation, summarizing the results, evaluating the hypothesis (supported or refuted), and interpreting findings based on evidence |
| Analyze | The systematic process of breaking down complex data, materials, or phenomena into smaller, manageable parts to understand their structure, function, and interrelationships. |
| Scientific Bias | Systematic, often unintentional, errors in the design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation phases of research that lead to inaccurate, skewed, or non-objective results |
